
The Casa da América Latina and the Banco Santander Totta, have established a University Programme, consisting of a Scientific Prize, aimed at furthering and nurturing relations between Portugal and Latin America, thus contributing for the implementation and development a culture of excellence and rigor.
The (Scientific Prize) Prémio Científico Casa da América Latina/Santander Totta intends to stimulate and recognise Portuguese and Latin American students’ training and education on issues of any nature of common interest to Portugal and Latin America or that may be a Portuguese students’ contribution to issues relating to Latin America or a Latin American students’ contribution to issues relating to Portugal. In this light, this Prize aims to distinguish the best doctoral dissertation of a student from Portugal or from any Latin American country who has completed the 3rd cycle in a Portuguese University or in Latin American one, within the framework of the aforementioned studies.
The Prize includes two categories: "Social Sciences and Humanities" – “Categoria de Ciências Sociais e Humanas", and "Technology and Natural Sciences" – “Categoria de Tecnologias e Ciências Naturais”. It awards ¤ 5,000 (five thousand euros) to each one of the above-mentioned categories.
