Carla Sá é professora auxiliar do Departamento de Economia da UM e investigadora no NIPE (Núcleo de INvestigação em Políticas Económicas) e no CIPES (Centro de Investigação em Políticas do Ensino Superior). Doutorou-se em Economia no Tinbergen Institute/Vrij Universiteit Amsterdam, na Holanda. Os seus interesses de investigação situam-se na interseção da Economia da Educação e da Economia Espacial, nomeadamente no processo de decisão dos estudantes. Tem artigos publicados em revistas internacionais como Regional Studies, Spatial Economics Analysis, CESifo Economic Studies, Higher Education, Studies in Higher Educationa e European Journal of Education. Tem feito parte de equipas de investigação de projetos financiados pela FCT, A3ES (Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior) e FFMS (Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos). Tem ainda desenvolvido trabalhos de consultadoria para organizações como o Ministério do Trabalho e o ILO (Organização Internacional do Trabalho).
