EEG Professor was distinguished by the Southern Finance Association Back

Gilberto Loureiro, Associate Professor of the Department of Management of the School of Economics and Management (EEG) of the University of Minho and Researcher of the EEG Centre for Research in Economics and Management, together with his co-authors Rose Liao (Rutgers University ) and Alvaro Taboada (Mississippi State University) was awarded the Award "Outstanding Paper in International Finance"; awarded by the American Southern Finance Association (SFA) at its annual conference in Orlando (Florida, 20-23 November 2019". The distinguished research work bears the title "Women on Bank Boards: Evidence from Gender Quotas around the World".
The Southern Finance Association is a North-American association that aims to promote the development and dissemination of scientific work in the field of finance, improve the teaching of finance and stimulate the interaction with professionals in their field of work in governmental, corporate and academic institutions. This Association convenes an annual international conference with a view to present and discuss recent and relevant scientific papers in the field of finance.
Gilberto Loureiro holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of Porto, Master of Management, with specialisation in Finance, from the University of Minho and a PhD in Finance from Ohio State University. He teaches curricular units in the field of Corporate Finance and his main areas of interest in research are Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Mergers & Acquisitions internationally wise. Most of his current research involves collaboration with American and European universities. He authors publications in international journals, including the Journal of Corporate Finance and the Journal of Accounting Research.
