Cláudia Simões is the new Dean of the School of Economics and Management of UMinho Back

Cláudia Simões took office on 9 December 2020, as the Dean of the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho (EEGIUMinho), for the three-year term 2020/23. Cláudia Simões will have as Vice-Deans Prof Maria do Céu Pinto Arena, Prof Maria Filomena Pregueiro Antunes Brás and Prof. Beatriz Graça Luz Casais.
Cláudia Simões holds a PhD in Industrial and Business Studies from the University of Warwick in the UK. She is currently a Full Professor of the Department of Management of the EEGIUMinho in the Marketing and Strategy related scientific area and a Researcher of the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE, EEGIUMinho). She is involved in scientific work with researchers from several countries, such as the UK, USA, Italy, Denmark and Brazil. She was a visiting fellow at Scheller College of Management (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Loyola Marymount University in the USA; at The Open University Business School, Warwick Business School and Henley Business School in the UK, and the University of Melbourne in Australia. She collaborated in research work at the business level involving institutions such as AICEP Portugal Global, Eixo Atlântico do Noroeste Peninsular and the Commercial Chambers of Braga. She is the Associate Editor of the European Journal of Marketing.
Since its foundation in 1982, the School of Economics and Management of UMinho is a teaching, research and interaction with society organic unit in the field of Economics, Management, Public Administration, Political Science and International Relations. EEG affirms itself as "Erudite" School, which produces and disseminates scientific knowledge at the highest level; "Cosmopolitan", due to the multiplicity and richness of its educational offer; and "Proactive", for the ability to project for the future, forming expert frameworks that strongly mark the difference in the economic and social environment.
EEG has 3 departments (Political Science, Economics and Management) and 2 research centres, served by 87 career faculty members, 132 researchers and 22 non-teaching staff members. In the academic year 2020/2021 it has 2,775 students, distributed by 8 bachelor programmes, 14 master programmes and 5 PhDs.
