The 16th edition of the Annual
Meeting of the Portuguese Economic Journal (PEJ) took place on 7 and 8 July at
the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho. The meeting
was organised by the Research Centre for Economic and Business Policies (NIPE)
and was attended by professors, researchers and students in the field of
Economics who participated in several sessions and lectures over two days. The
welcoming session was attended by the President of EEG, Cláudia Simões, the
editor of PEJ, Luís Costa, and the president of the local organising committee
and Professor of the Department of Economics, Miguel Portela, director of NIPE.
The Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Economic
Journal is an international generalist conference in economics, organised in
collaboration with the Portuguese universities and schools that host it. The
first edition was held in 2007 in Ponta Delgada, Azores. In this last meeting,
in addition to the sessions and lectures, there were several social initiatives
among the participants such as lunch, dinner, a football match and a visit to
the village of Sistelo in the district of Viana do Castelo.
