EEG welcomes secondary school students in the context of Summer on Campus
Back
Monday, 7/24/2023
The School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho welcomed, from 17 to 21 July 2023, 29 high school students from Braga, Fafe, Guimarães, Vila Verde, Póvoa de Lanhoso, Felgueiras, Barcelos and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), as part of the scientific programme "Summer on Campus" (
Verão no Campus
VnC). The VnC programme aims to help students enrolled from 10th to 12th grade to choose a higher education course, through a deeper knowledge of their vocation area.
Throughout this week, participants had the opportunity to meet and interact with current EEG students, through the Student Associations of the School's 8 degrees, attend to lectures given by professors from the three departments of the School of Economics and Management, in the areas of Economics, Management and Political Science in order to get to know all the teaching areas of EEG. In the final stretch of the activities, these students met the company Adclick, which came to EEG, and with the guidance of the Study Centre of the International Relations Course (
Centro de Estudos do Curso de Relações Internacionais
CECRI) of UMinho, participated in the debate "(I)Migration: a right or a threat?", where migration in Europe and its status before the countries of the European Union were discussed. These students had the support of monitors, teachers and students from EEG. The future university students were also able to get to know the School of Economics and Management and the city of Braga, in addition to meeting colleagues from different regions of the country. This year marked the 15th edition of an event that has already met more than 4000 young people from four continents, since its first edition in 2009, in the various areas of UMinho. The closing session took place on Friday 21st, in the A1 Auditorium of the Gualtar Campus (Braga), followed by an informal socialising moment in the Olive Tree field.
And so, we said goodbye to these students with the aim of clarifying doubts regarding the various areas of the School of Economics and Management, demonstrating their multidisciplinary and the importance of each one for a better tomorrow.
For some, who knows, see you in September!
