On 28 September 2023, the School of Economics
and Management hosted the session "What is the Role Played by Regional and
Local Authorities in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism?". The
discussion focused on a theme developed under the European project
PARTICIPATION: "Analysing and Preventing Extremism Via
Participation".
The event was attended by Maria do Céu Pinto
Arena, Professor at the Department of Political Science and Researcher at the
Political Science Research Centre (CICP); Santina Musolino from the Università
degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy); Ana Leão Varela from the Universidade Nova de
Lisboa and the International Coordination Unit of the Social Security Institute
(Portugal); Rut Bermejo-Casado from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain);
Pina Sodano from the Università degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy); Jeanne Abdulla
from the Human Security Collective (Netherlands) and Isabella Pirlogea from the
Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) (Romania).
The session also included two moments of debate between the participants.
The initiative is part of the EEGConect@eeg
series of lectures as part of EEG's Transversal Skills Development Programme
(EEGenerating Skills) and aims to bring Civil Society Organisations and
Projects to EEG to share their experiences and success stories.
