Thursday, 7/11/2024
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Public Administration Planning, Policy and Foresight Competence Center (PlanAPP) launched the first Science4Policy competition, aimed at science studies applied to public policies. Among the thematic lines of the call was "Monitoring and Evaluation of Family Health Units".
In this thematic line, the Political Science Research Center (CICP) of the School of Economics and Management (EEG) was successful in its application with the project "Pulse Check: Monitoring Family Health Units in Portugal". The group responsible for the project is made up of professors and researchers
Marco Antonio Catussi Paschoalotto
, (Department of Political Science and Political Science Research Center at EEG),
Joana Cima
and
Bruno Pires Fernandes
, (EEG's Department of Economics and Research Center in Economic and Business Policies - NIPE).
The "Pulse Check" project aims to analyze Primary Health Care (PHC) in Portugal, with a special focus on Family Health Units (USFs) and the implementation of the monitoring of the pay-for-performance model used. One of the steps planned in the study is to carry out a pilot project at the Braga Local Health Unit (ULS).
The initiative represents an important step towards improving health services in Portugal, highlighting the importance of scientific research in formulating and evaluating efficient public policies.
