Wednesday, 9/25/2024
The School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho (EEG) continues to make a name for itself on the international scientific scene, with two of its professors,
António Tavares
and
José Carlos Pinho
, recognized among the 2% most cited in the world.
The “World's Top 2% Scientists 2024” list identifies the 223,000 most influential researchers at a global level, based on the number of citations, volume of publications and other indicators of scientific relevance. Among the 889 researchers in Portugal included in the ranking, 66 are from the University of Minho, a number that reinforces the importance of the research carried out at UMinho in various areas of knowledge.
This annual list, published since 2019, evaluates the best researchers on the planet in 22 areas and 174 disciplines, using data from the Scopus database until August 2024. In addition, one of the aims of this list is to combat abuses of self-citation.
The presence of António Tavares, from the Political Science Research Center (CICP), and José Carlos Pinho, from the Research Center for Economic and Business Policies (NIPE), in this group highlights the relevance of UMinho's School of Economics and Management in the global scientific panorama.
Both professors have contributed to the advancement of their areas of specialization, and their work has gained recognition and impact across borders.
António F. Tavares holds a PhD in Public Administration from Florida State University (USA), is an associate professor with aggregation and Director of the Department of Political Science at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho. He is a senior field editor of the Journal of Public Policy (Cambridge) and a member of the Strategic Council of the National Institute of Administration representing the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities. His areas of research interest focus on territorial reforms and inter-municipal cooperation; political and civic participation; and the provision of local public goods and services.
José Carlos M. Rodrigues de Pinho* (Ph.D., Warwick University) is a Full Professor at the School of Economics and Management (EEG) of the University of Minho.
In addition to his teaching activities in new areas of knowledge such as “Business & Customer Analytics”, he has published widely in prestigious international journals, including: Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Project Management, International Marketing Review, among others. In addition, he has been involved in numerous international projects, published in proceedings of numerous international conferences and has been a reviewer for numerous international journals.
