João Cerejeira and Sílvia Sousa, Professors at the
Department of Economics and Researchers at the Research Center for Economic and
Business Policies (NIPE) at the School of Economics and Management of the
University of Minho, together with Helena Lopes, Professor at the University
Institute of Lisbon, presented the book "Labor Economics: Markets and
Institutions" on November 30, 2023, at the Centésima Página Bookstore in
Braga.
The presentation was attended by the book's authors, Carla
Vale, from Instituto de Emprego e Formação profissional do Norte (IEFP), and
Miguel Portela, Professor at the School of Economics and Management at the
University of Minho and NIPE researcher.
The book "Economia do Trabalho: Mercados e
Instituições" is an academic manual on labor economics applied to the
Portuguese reality. It deals with issues such as the segmentation of the labor
market, puts into perspective the low productivity of the Portuguese compared
to other European countries, analyzes wage inequalities and also devotes a
chapter to young people.
