Dimitri A. Sotiropoulos is a senior
research fellow with ELIAMEP. His work
focuses on civil society and democratization, public policy reforms including
reforms in education and the welfare state, and the comparative study of public
administration.
Prior to joining ELIAMEP, Dimitri, who serves as associate
professor of political science of the University of Athens, was Visiting Fellow
at the LSE, Oxford and the Sciences Po (Paris), on different academic semesters.
He has also taught at the Institute Juan March in Madrid and the University of
Crete. He has contributed to policy-oriented projects of ELIAMEP on democracy
in South East Europe, the reform of higher education in Greece, Europeanization,
and the social effects of the economic crisis in Greece. He currently serves as
Coordinator of the South East European Studies Master’s Degree Programme (a
social science taught programme) at the University of Athens. Sotiropoulos
received his B.A. in Law from the Law School of the University of Athens, his M.A.
from the London School of Economics, two additional Master’s degrees from Yale
University and a Ph.D. in political sociology from Yale University (awarded
with distinction).
