Media Economics Workshop

Call for Papers​​

The Centre for Research in Economics and Management and the School of Economics and ​Management of the University of Minho, are pleased to announce the 17th Media Economics Workshop.

The meeting will be held at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal, on October 11-12, 2019.

The workshop is designed to foster research on the economics of media markets and media policy. A list of potential topics/sessions includes the following topics: 

Pricing strategies in media and digital markets 
Business models in two-sided media markets 
Advertising 
Network Effects 
Privacy, search and social networks 
Mergers 
Platform competition and regulation 
Consumer protection and competition policy in media markets 
Fake news 
Media market structure and political outcomes 
Regulation of advertising and media content 
Media and political accountability 
Pricing of electronic content, aggregation, intermediaries

Each presenter will be assigned a discussant. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. Submissions of junior researchers are encouraged.

Submission deadline: August, 2nd (Early submissions are encouraged)
