This year's Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to three Americans, two of whom, David Card and Joshua Angrist, visited EEG. David Card, from the University of California, Berkeley, was at EEG in 2009 as a consultant for the project "The impact of the minimum wage: going three steps further," funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), has been, in that context, keynote speaker at NIPE's workshop "Economic Analysis Using Linked Employer and Employee Data" and was invited as a speaker at the 6th Linked Employer-Employee Data (LEED) Workshop in 2019 by the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE), within the scope of the project "It is all about Productivity: contributions to the understanding of the sluggish performance of the Portuguese economy."
David Card has been dedicating himself to labour market research, a topic in which EEG has been affirming itself internationally through relevant collaborations with prominent researchers. Joshua Angrist, from MIT, lectured at the 6th NIPE Summer School 2009, with the topic "Empirical Strategies." In addition to David Card and Joshua Angrist, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences honoured Guido Imbens this year.
EEG congratulates the winners of this year's Nobel Prize in Economics.
