Lígia Pinto, Professor of the Department of Economics of the School of Economics and Management, is the author of the book "
Economia do Ambiente: Conceitos e desenvolvimentos
", edited by Livraria Almedina. The book was co-authored by Marieta Valente, Professor at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho, and Cristina Chaves, Professor at FEP.
This book is a pedagogical reference manual and provides an introduction to the Environmental Economics approach for 1st and 2nd-degree students, researchers, and professionals with an interest in the topics covered. It will be a fundamental tool for students in Economics, Management, and Environmental Sciences, as well as a mechanism to attract the interested public from other scientific areas.
Lígia Pinto also coordinated the launch book of the Strategic Collection of the National Library of Portugal "
Pobreza e fome, uma história contemporânea. Temas, metodologias e estudos de caso
". This book analyses poverty and hunger, which are current problems faced in a time and space dimension, bringing together multidisciplinary approaches from 29 researchers from the IHC and from other research centres. Considering political, economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions, it aims to promote critical thinking on environmental deterioration, inequality, and social discrimination, while considering issues such as racism, over-exploitation of humans and non-humans, gender issues, pollution, and climate change. Published within the scope of the current IHC programmatic project and organized in three parts, this work highlights and analyses some of the most relevant issues for an understanding of poverty and hunger-related topics in modern Portugal.
The book is available online on the website of
