On May, 4th,
the School of Economics and Management of University of Minho hosted the
Conference Cycle - Next Generation: YOU! in which was discussed "Financial
Assistance and Humanitarian Aid from the European Union to Ukraine:
Contributions and Challenges". The conference counted with the
interventions of Marlene Madsen (European Commission, Ukraine Service - DG
Near) and Daniela Nascimento (CES - University of Coimbra). The aim of this
initiative contributed to a balanced reflection and analysis on the issue of financial
assistance and humanitarian aid that the European Union has provided to Ukraine
in recent years, promoting an informed view on this matter. Contributions and
challenges on the subject were referred, namely on international cooperation
and the role of the European Union as a global actor. The speakers also
highlighted the importance of dialogue and collaboration between countries to
face common challenges and promote peace and prosperity.
Six
Portuguese universities are part of this cycle of conferences, besides the
University of Minho. The Universities of Lisbon, Beira Interior, Aveiro,
Coimbra and Évora have also associated themselves to launch the challenge of
gathering a set of contributions from young Portuguese academics that reflect
their vision and expectations on the evolution of the European Union. With the
support of the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal, the best
contributions will be presented at the Conference on the Future of Europe and
in future initiatives promoted by the European institutions.
The
"Next Generation: You!" conference cycle was organized by the EEG
with the objective of promoting debate and reflection on issues of current
interest to society. The event was open to the general public and was attended
by students, researchers and members of the academic community.
