dst Auditorium | Building 8 - EEG | Gualtar Campus, Braga | 05:00pm
The School of Economics, Management and Political Science (EEG) of the University of Minho is hosting the presentation of the book “School of Affections”, by Professor Orlando Petiz, on May 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the EEG's dst Auditorium, on UMinho's Gualtar Campus.
The session will feature speeches by Professor Eduardo Duque (Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University and integrated researcher at CECS-UMinho) and Professor Manuela Coutinho (Together International Network), and will be moderated by Tânia Micaela Brito Meneses Montenegro Barbosa, (EEG Management Department).
The book School of Affections proposes a profound reflection on the role of education in building a more empathetic, supportive and humanized society. Supported by an emotional and spiritual approach to learning, the author defends the need to create schools with a soul, where affection becomes the central axis of the educational process. The book suggests a transformative pedagogical model, guided by values such as benevolence, compassion, forgiveness and responsibility in solidarity.
This event is an opportunity to reflect on new educational approaches, integrating the affective dimension into the academic and social context.
The initiative is part of the EEGConnect series of seminars as part of EEG's transversal skills program, EEGenerating Skills.
Admission is free and open to the whole community.
