EEG student awarded OROC's Gastambide Fernandes Prize
Ana Catarina Mendes, a student on the Master's in Accounting at the School of Economics, Management and Political Science (EEG) at the University of Minho, was awarded 1st place in the Gastambide Fernandes Prize, promoted by the Order of Chartered Accountants (OROC) for her dissertation work on the EEG Master's in Accounting.

The award-winning dissertation, entitled “Forensic Accounting - A Mapping of Activity in Portugal”, was developed under the supervision of Professor Tânia Micaela Brito Meneses Montenegro Barbosa, from EEG's Management Department.

The work was recognized by the jury of the Prize, which considered it the best among those submitted in this edition, for its scientific quality, the relevance of the topic and its contribution to knowledge in the area of forensic accounting in Portugal.

In addition to the award, the author was also invited to turn the dissertation into a smaller scientific article for possible publication in OROC's Auditores e Revisores magazine, given the topicality and importance of the topic.

The Gastambide Fernandes Award is a biennial honorary distinction promoted by the Order of Statutory Auditors (OROC), with the aim of recognizing original technical-scientific work in Portuguese in the areas of International Accounting and Auditing, distinguished by its innovative nature and practical applicability.

This award is a source of pride for EEG and reinforces the UMinho School's commitment to academic excellence and the production of relevant and innovative knowledge.

EEG congratulates Ana Catarina and Professor Tânia Montenegro on this distinction!
