 Bachelor in Management

The mission of the Bachelor in Management is to train managers to have a strategic and integrated vision of organisations and their competitive context. Holders of a Degree in Management should be able to apply different theories, conceptual frameworks, methods and methodologies to sustain decision-making. They should also be prepared to manage different resources, prioritise and have a proactive attitude, as well as a leadership stance and entrepreneurial drive. Several professional opportunities are open to Management graduates to hold positions in areas such as Strategic Management, HR Management, Logistics, Production and Operations Management, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Accounting and Auditing.​​​

At EEG|UMinho students are "prepared for the world!"
The bachelor in ​Management has a strong international focus, manifest not only in the course contents, but also in the fact that at least a third of the courses are taught in English. In addition, international mobility is highly valued, and students are encouraged to study abroad for a semester.
​EEG|UMinho offers an English language course to first-year students with poorer language skills.


EFMD - The Management Development Network awarded accreditation to the bachelor in Management.
EFMD accreditation particularly emphasises academic rigour, practical relevance, internationalisation, and ethics and sustainability. This international accreditation reflects the excellence of the bachelor in Management, positioning it among the best in the world.​​​​​

AIn addition to obtaining a positive grade in the project component, the conclusion of the Curricular Unit (UC) "Business Case" implies cumulatively, the verification of the following requirements:
(1) compliance with 3 ECTS in the EEGenerating Skills programme;
(2) compliance with the Data Analysis Requirement;
(3) compliance with the Internationalisation Requirement.

Description


The Bachelor in Management provide students with the theoretical and technical tools in Management, as well as the rigor and the ethical and social responsibility awareness to make complex decisions in an international, rapidly changing and digital setting. The objectives are to attract the best students in the North region and from the rest of the country in order to train highly competent professionals in Management that are “prepared for the world”. For this purpose, we aim to: 
- provide a broad, analytical and highly integrated study to build solid skills in the various fields of Management; 
- address the main theories, conceptual frameworks, methodologies and methods in Management model and solve real world.

Key learning outcomes


A Management graduate should be able to:
1. Use the appropriate tools and IT skills to model, collect and analyse managerial data with the aim of solving economic and managerial problems;
2. Manage different resources, set priorities and develop proactive, responsible and entrepreneurial attitudes;
3. Develop critical thinking and learning skills that will enable them to learn throughout their lives in a self-directed and autonomous way;
4. Develop ethical awareness and the ability to recognize and resolve ethical issues typical in business decision-making process, as well as, to develop their sense of social responsibility;
5. Develop the ability to communicate with a variety of media to different audiences;
6. Develop a wide range of social and soft skills to prepare future integration in a global labour market, as well as to an active citizenship.

Access to higher education


The Bachelor in Management provides the technical and scientific capacity to access the courses of the second cycle (Master).

Holders of our Degree in Management may seize several professional opportunities in positions in diverse areas such as Strategic Management, HR Management, Logistics, Production and Operations Management, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Accounting and Auditing.
