Luís Aguiar-Conraria integrates the committee of experts for the Dating of Economic Cycles in Portugal
Back
Thursday, 10/8/2020
Five economic cycles have been identified ever since the 1980s. These correspond to five complete recessions which the Portuguese economy has been through. The committee endeavours to address and respond to when, why and how long these cycles have lasted and to shed light on the effects and impacts they had on the day-to-day life of the Portuguese people. The Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation has created the project on the Dating of Economic Cycles in Portugal.
The research work, yet unpublished in Portugal, was conducted over the two last years and involved a team of eight experts in economic issues.
Luís Aguiar–Conraria
, Full Professor of the Department of Economics of the School of Economics and Management and Researcher of the Centre for Research and Economic and Management (NIPE) of UMinho is one of the committee's members. The research project was led by economist Ricardo Reis (LSE). Nuno Valério (ISEG, ULisboa), Isabel Horta Correia (UCP), José Tavares (Nova SBE), José Varejão (FEP), UPorto) and Pedro Bação (FEUC) are also members of the Committee. The publication of the results will take place this Monday, on 12 October 2020.
