The International
Multidisciplinary Perspectives Conference on Equality and Diversity in Sport is
part of the European project GESPORT Erasmus and took place from 14 to 16th of
July, in online format. This event was jointly organized by the School of
Economics and Management and four other universities in Spain, Italy , Turkey
and the United Kingdom. Through the involvement of professor and researcher
Emília Fernandes, from the EEG Management department, the University of Minho
joins the universities of Zaragoza, in Spain, the University of Teramo, in
Italy, the University of Sakarya, in Turkey and the University from Leicester,
UK, in support of an event that seeks to share experiences and knowledge in the
context of the challenges of gender equality in sport.
The conference discussed the
topics of equal opportunities and diversity in the organization of sporting
events, with the purpose of contributing to combat gender discrimination in sport
in the two different areas (competition, refereeing, training, management) and
in its different sports and to point out ways to a culture of diversity and to
formulate equality policies in this context.
