Paulo Mourão opens the debate of the
Public Sector Economics 2021 Conference

Paulo Reis Mourão, Professor of the Department of Economics and Researcher at the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE) of the School of Economics and Management, University of Minho, held, on October 22nd, the opening session of the Annual Conference on Public Sector Economics 2021, whose theme was: "Does fiscal openness pay off? The political and socio-economic effects of transparency, participation, and accountability?"
The
main
lectures were given
by
Paulo Mourão
and
James Alt (Harvard
University
).
The conference was organised by the Institute of Public Finance (IPF) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), supported by the International Budget Partnership (IBP), Washington, and the Croatian Science Foundation (CSF). The objective was to bring together leading researchers in this specific domain to discuss not only the trends and challenges of fiscal openness at an international level but also the importance of transparency and citizen participation in public budgets.
