Inaugural lecture of EEG PhD Programmes with the presence of Ricardo Reis

The School of Economics and Management (EEG) of the University of Minho kicked off its Doctoral Programs with an inaugural lecture given by Ricardo Reis, A.W. Phillips Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). Phillips Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE).
The event occurred in the dst Auditorium (Building 8) on the Gualtar Campus and was attended by EEG doctoral students.
The opening session was led by Professor Luís Aguiar-Conraria, President of the EEG, who highlighted the importance of the event in welcoming the new doctoral students and reinforcing the EEG's commitment to academic excellence and critical thinking.
The theme of the inaugural lecture, “Studying how people form expectations: the credibility revolution, " addressed recent advances in how economic agents form expectations, a topic of great relevance in analyzing monetary and fiscal policies.
Ricardo Reis is the A.W. Phillips Professor of Economics at the LSE. He has been elected a member of the British Academy, the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, and the Econometric Society. Among his most recent awards are the Carl Menger Prize for 2022 and the Yrjö Jahnsson Medal for 2021. He is also an academic advisor to the Bank of England, the Riksbank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and the European Stability Mechanism, as well as an advisor to various organizations. He has published widely in macroeconomics, including monetary and fiscal policies, inflation, and business cycles. Ricardo Reis holds a PhD in economics from Harvard University and previously taught at Columbia and Princeton Universities.
