Between the 5th and 7th of July, the School of Economics and Management (EEG) hosted the 11th Portuguese Conference on Finance (PFN2021), this year in an online format. The opening session was attended by the President of the School of Economics and Management, Cláudia Simões and the Rector of the University of Minho, Rui Vieira de Castro. The event was also supported by the Center for Research in Economic Policies (NIPE). The PFN (“Portuguese Finance Network”), created in 1999, is a network not only for Portuguese researchers, but also for international ones, which aims to promote the area of Finance.
The conferences organized by this network are the most relevant scientific events that take place in Portugal, every two years, bringing together researchers from all over the world to present their work and share experiences. This year's edition featured the “Keynote Speaker” Terrance Odean, from the University of California, Berkeley, with another speaker (kept secret until the end of the last day of the conference), the very distinguished Professor Hersh Sherffrin of the Leavey School of Business (USA), and one of the pioneers of the area of Behavioral Finance, with numerous works, in particular with several Nobel Prizes in Economics.
