The research
project “Using historical institutional analyses of corporatism to understand the
professionalization of accounting in Latin America and Portugal” got financing
in the ambit of the Concurso de Projetos IC&DT in all of the scientific
domains of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Runned by Lúcia Lima
Rodrigues, member of the Center of Research in Economics and Businesses
Politics (NIPE) of EEG, the project team includes the professors Mário Marques
and Tânia de Menezes Montenegro, also from EEG, and as well the Professors
Professores Russell Craig from the Durham University, Adriana Silva from the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém
and Inês Fronti from the University of Buenos Aires.
The Project aims to explore how the
professionalism of accounting has evolved on Latin America (specially in
Argentina, Brazil) and in Portugal. Using a theoretical referential the
institutional analysis historical-comparative of coopers will be studied the
origins of the professionalism of accounting,
the sequences of auto reinforcement and the reactive sequences that
stopped the professionalism. This project will represent the results of an
empiric scene widely unexplored.
