Manuel Rocha Armada, retired full professor at the School of Economics and Management and emeritus professor at the University of Minho, will be co-chairing the most important European Finance Conference, the European Financial Management Association 2024 Annual Meeting, for the third time. The conference will take place at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) in Lisbon from 26 to 29 June 2024. The Conference Keynote Speaker will be Professor Robert F. Stambaugh from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The European Financial Management Association (EFMA) was founded in 1991 by Professor John Doukas with the aim of encouraging research and disseminating knowledge on financial decision-making in all financial areas related to European companies, financial institutions and capital markets. To achieve its goal, the European Financial Management Association provides its members with a reference journal, European Financial Management, and organises annual meetings at which members exchange ideas, present and discuss their research.
Professor Manuel Rocha Armada will also be a guest speaker at a Conference on Accounting and Finance, to be held at the Federal University of Uberlândia, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, between 18 and 20 October. The theme presented at the Conference by Professor Rocha Armada will be "Reflections on challenges and emerging horizons in Accounting and Finance" and he has been presented as a speaker with great enthusiasm by the Federal University of Uberlândia. The main aim of the conference is to prepare for the future of the Accounting and Finance profession by exploring disruptive trends and promising paths, giving participants the chance to connect with transformative ideas.
On 12 September 2023, the same professor took part as a moderator in the "International Virtual Research Seminars in Finance Series", with the theme "Gambling for redemption or ripoff, and the impact of superpriority", organised by The Finance Research Consortium (IFRC) and the Financial Management Association International (FMA). The seminars, which took place on the Zoom platform, were given by Professor Philip Dybvig, winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Economics, and included international universities, including the School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho.
