The School of Economics, Management and Political Science at the University of Minho, in collaboration with its Student Groups, is promoting a social responsibility initiative that aims to increase access to reading among children and young people in Braga. The initiative consists of a joint collection of children's and young adult books, aimed primarily at children up to the 2nd cycle, but may also include works suitable for the 3rd cycle.
The books collected will be delivered to two associations in social housing neighbourhoods in Braga, where a reading corner will be created to serve as a base for regular activities to promote reading, organised by the local community and monitored by the EEG and the Student Groups. The initiative aims to contribute, in a collaborative way, to stimulating reading habits and creating learning opportunities for children and young people.
The academic community can deliver books to the following locations: ADEGE, CEAP, CECRI, NAECUM, NECONT, NECP, NEMKT, NENIUM, EEG Secretariat and Communication Office.
The collection was extended until 6 January, followed by the cataloguing and preparation of the books, which will be delivered to the two associations in early January.
We appreciate the involvement of all members of the community, emphasising that each book represents a new opportunity for discovery for a child.
