The School of Economics, Management, and Political Science at the University of Minho invites students to participate in the session “EEGConnect: The world of work, credit, and responsibilities,” which will take place on February 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., in the dst Auditorium.
Promoted by NAECUM – UMinho Economics Students' Association, this lecture aims to clarify fundamental concepts associated with entering the job market, which are often overlooked during academic studies. The session will address, in a practical and accessible way, the differences between gross and net salary, withholding taxes, Social Security deductions, and their impact on disposable income.
The most common types of employment contracts in Portugal will also be presented—internship, fixed-term contract, permanent contract, and service provision—highlighting their respective financial, tax, and social protection implications, contributing to a more informed understanding of the professional decisions to be made at the beginning of a career.
The session will feature João Cerejeira, Professor at the School of Economics, Management, and Political Science at the University of Minho, who will lead the discussion and clarify the main topics covered.
This EEGConnect session is part of the EEG Transversal Skills Development Program (EEGenerating Human Skills).
Registration is available on the EEGenerating Skills platform.
