The School of Economics, Management and Political Science at the University of Minho welcomed the French Ambassador to Portugal, Hélène Farnaud-Defromont, to a session dedicated to the challenges of contemporary diplomacy, which forms part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.

The event took the form of an open discussion with students, characterised by strong participation and interaction. Throughout the session, the Ambassador answered questions from the audience, fostering a direct dialogue on current geopolitical dynamics and the role of diplomacy in an increasingly complex international context.

With a long-standing career in French diplomacy, Hélène Farnaud-Defromont shared her experience in various roles, addressing topics related to foreign policy, international cooperation and emerging challenges in a changing global landscape.

The session provided an opportunity for reflection on the future of international relations, reinforcing the link between academic training and professional practice in the field of diplomacy.

During her visit, Hélène Farnaud-Defromont signed the Guest Book of the School of Economics, Management and Political Science at the University of Minho.
