Luís Aguiar-Conraria appointed economic adviser to the President of the Republic
Luís Aguiar-Conraria, Dean of the School of Economics, Management and Political Science at the University of Minho, has been appointed political adviser to the President of the Republic, António José Seguro.

The Professor will advise the Head of State on matters such as economic development, public finances, the implementation of the PRR and PTRR programmes, and monitoring the reconstruction of affected areas in the Central region, amongst others. António José Seguro has also appointed João Miguel Coelho, former Vice-President of ANACOM, and Jorge Marrão, a businessman and manager, as economic advisers.

Luís Aguiar-Conraria was born in Coimbra in 1974 and holds a PhD from Cornell University (USA). He received the Gulbenkian Prize for the Internationalisation of Social Sciences in 2011 and is a member of the Committee for the Dating of Portuguese Economic Cycles at the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. He has published dozens of articles in international scientific journals, is the author or co-author of several books and a regular presence in the media, writing a column for “Expresso” and appearing as a regular guest on the programme Fora do Baralho on “Rádio Observador”.
