The UMinhoExec lounge at the School of Economics, Management and Political Science, University of Minho, hosted the opening of the exhibition “A Fala Incompleta” by artist Daniela Reis, organised as part of a partnership with ZET.
The event was also attended by Helena Mendes Pereira, director and curator of the gallery. Among the eleven works on display, “A fala incompleta” (2023) stands out, a piece that serves as a starting point for a reflection on non-conformity, resistance and the female voice, central themes in Daniela Reis’s artistic universe.
Recognised for the activist and feminist nature of her work, Daniela Reis constructs a visual language marked by the expressiveness of the human figure, chromatic intensity and compositions in which groups of women appear in dialogue, confrontation or catharsis. Her painting asserts itself as a space for political and social intervention, giving visibility to voices often silenced by contemporary society.
A native of Lisbon, where she was born in 1980, Daniela Reis holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. She furthered her training in curation through the National Society of Fine Arts and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Throughout her career, she has taken part in various group and solo exhibitions in countries such as Portugal, India, Morocco and the United States of America.
The exhibition, which will remain open to the public until September, reinforces the commitment of UMinhoExec and EEG to promoting culture and artistic reflection, bringing the academic community closer to different forms of contemporary artistic expression and the social debates associated with them.
