Ana Rita Luz, a lecturer and PhD student in Economics at the School of Economics, Management and Political Science (EEG) at the University of Minho, has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship, with the support of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The award of this fellowship represents significant recognition of the quality of her academic and scientific career, enabling her to carry out part of her research at a higher education institution in the United States of America, thereby strengthening the international dimension of her PhD.
Fulbright scholarships are part of one of the most prestigious international programmes for academic and scientific mobility, promoting the exchange of students, researchers and lecturers between Portugal and the United States. In addition to supporting research projects of excellence, they aim to strengthen scientific cooperation, knowledge sharing and mutual understanding between the two countries.
Established in 1960, the Fulbright Commission in Portugal carries out its work by promoting opportunities for study, research and teaching, providing information on the Portuguese and US education systems, and organising academic and scientific cooperation initiatives.
This distinction recognises the merit of Ana Rita Luz and the quality of the research carried out within the EEG’s Doctoral Programme in Economics, helping to enhance the international standing of the School and the University of Minho.
