António Coutinho, CEO of EDP Inovação, was at the School of Economics
and Management on April 20th, 2022, in an open class on the topic "Energy
transition: what is it and what are the challenges."
This session addressed the enormous social and demographic leaps of
humanity due to changes in mobility. Nowadays, autonomous mobility is the next
step that will change the way we look at transport. It was also concluded that
the electrification of the energy consumed is of extraordinary importance in
the fight against climate change, as it is heading towards being totally
renewable.
According to António Coutinho, the rebound effect cannot be forgotten,
and in this sense, consumption habits must also be updated. Finally, it is
expected that with the Ukraine conflict, electricity prices will inevitably
rise, comparing the wholesale markets costs now with values from the previous
year.
The session was part of the Curricular Unit: Project in Applied
Economics of the Bachelor in Economics, with the intervention of Carla Sá and
Rita Sousa, EEG's professors of the Department of Economics of the EEG.
