The School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho (EEG) is proud to announce that César Manuel Oliveira Ferreira, a PhD student in Marketing and Strategy, presented his doctoral thesis entitled “Emerging Dynamics in Marketing Finance: Understandig the Inndividua Investor Journey” on September 23, 2024.
The thesis examines how the behavior and decisions of individual investors are influenced by market conditions and popularity in social media.
Moreover, the investigation highlights the reaction of individual investors during crises, as evidenced by the significant decrease in participation during the 2020 pandemic, supporting existing behavioral theories.
The introduction of the Individual Investor Preponderance (IIP) variable allows for a more comprehensive global analysis of individual investor participation, underscoring the complex interaction between investor sentiment and stock price fluctuations"
His doctoral thesis was supervised by Cláudia Maria Neves Simões, Full Professor in the Management Department of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho.
