Paulo Reis Mourão, Professor at the Department of
Economics and Researcher at the Research Centre for Economic and Business
Policies (NIPE) at the School of Economics and Management at the University of
Minho, held the opening session as Keynote Speaker of the International Forum
"Strategies to Combat Poverty" on 8 September 2023. This Congress
took place in a hybrid format (face-to-face and remote) from the Universidad
del Valle (Colombia). Professor Paulo Mourão's participation focused on the
problem of corruption in the design of anti-poverty policies and how endogenous
institutions play an important role in community development.
