School of Economics and Management (EEG) celebrates its 42nd Anniversary

The School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho (EEG) celebrated its 42nd Anniversary on March 12, 2024, with a ceremony starting at 2:30 p.m. in auditorium B1 (building 2) of the Gualtar campus in Braga.
The opening ceremony featured a speech by the president of the EEG,
Luís Aguiar-Conraria
, followed by the recognition of the Technical, Administrative and Management employees for their 30-year careers at the EEG and the presentation of the school merit award to the students of the 2nd and 3rd cycle courses, as well as the Teaching Award given to
Ana Paula Ferreira
, Professor in the EEG's Management Department and
Paulo Brardo Duarte
, Professor in the EEG's Political Science Department.
The session also included the presentation of the EEG Research Award. In the area of Political Science, professors
António Tavares
from the Department of Political Science and
João Martins
from the Department of Economics were awarded the prize; in the area of Economics, the prize was awarded to
Odd Rune Straume
from the Department of Economics; in the area of Management, the prize was awarded to
Beatriz Casais
, a professor from the Department of Management; and in the area of Sustainability, the prize was awarded to
Teresa Heath
, a professor from the Department of Management.
The program included a talk by
Paulo Portas
, co-founder of the newspaper O Independente and former Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, on "The 50th anniversary of April 25: changes in the world and their impact on Portugal's strategic definition". The session was closed by the Rector of UMinho,
